In fact, the difference between paper and paperboard is only distinguished by its quantitative (the relative weight of the paper per square meter area). Folks generally refer to papers within 200 g/m2 as paper; papers above 200 g/m2 are referred to as paperboard. In the past, the quantitative regulations for paper and paperboard in China were: paper below 150 m2 is called paper; above 200 g/m2 is called cardboard. A paper jam (base paper) will be called between 150-200 g/m2.

We usually refer to thin paper as paper and thick paper as cardboard. However, in order to communicate information and exchange technology with foreign countries, the quantitative difference between paper and cardboard standards is now determined to be 225 g/m2 in accordance with the recommendations of the International Standards Organization.
